645 AFD II机身大了和645 AFD完全相同，仍然保持了流畅的外形设计，手感极佳，机身外壳是用轻巧、坚固的镁合金材料制造，该相机的主要特点是：具有自动对焦功能，设有单次和连续自动对焦模式。它采用的是固定式的棱镜取景器，装有目镜遮光帘幕。该相机具有丰富的测光系统，有三种测光模式，其中(A/S)测光模式是指：当被摄景物的一部份物体的发光度低于总体亮度的1.5EV或更大时，相机会自动选择点测光模式，如果部份物体的发光度与总体亮度的点测光读数相同或亮于平均测光读数时，相机自动选择中央重点平均测光模式，如果点测光和平均测光读数差值介于0.75~1.5EV之间时，相机自动选择两种测光模式读数的中间值作为曝光值，从而取得了较为平冲的曝光效果，这就是MAMIYA独特的A/S比率可变测光模式。
